By default our monthly data plans are limited to 3Mbps – this is plenty for browsing the web, email, video chat etc. Importantly it limits streaming services like Netflix to only be able to use standard definition, thus allowing 4x longer viewing for the same amount of data.
Given that whilst travelling most people are only viewing on a small screen or TV, HD quality is not required like on a larger screen at home. You can also adjust the settings in your streaming app and select the lower quality/data usage option if you wish.
Our aim is to offer reliable internet wherever you are and at a reasonable cost, not to offer the fastest possible speeds. Just like when you are travelling you have to think about how much water and electric you use, you just need to be a bit aware of your data usage as well. If you wish to have unlimited speed, you can select this option when you add a data bundle bolt on, please note however that you are responsible for how fast you use it up!
